Shawna Burke-Martin serves as a Principal in Ryan’s Complex Property Tax practice and leads the Firm’s Energy practice in Canada. She specializes in the assessment and taxation of highly complex energy and industrial assets, advising clients across oil and gas, renewable energy, electric power generation, telecom, mining, and manufacturing.

With more than 26 years of experience in property assessment and taxation, Shawna is a recognized leader in the Canadian energy industry. She is actively engaged in advancing the profession through industry speaking engagements and professional service, including former board leadership with the Canadian Property Tax Association and ongoing involvement with the property tax committee of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers. Her approach combines deep technical expertise, industry insight, and disciplined execution to help clients navigate complex assessment environments and achieve defensible property tax outcomes.
